I
was
introduced to yoga by my mother who is a long-time yoga teacher.
When I was a child, I often practiced yoga with my mother,
playing with different poses for fun. Later on in my teen years
I stopped practicing yoga because my interests changed. In
adulthood I returned to yoga because I wanted to stay physically
healthy. After I started to practice asana for a couple of
months, I found that yoga was affecting me in a lot of positive
ways. I noticed that my health had improved, that my body had
become much more flexible, and that I rarely caught colds.
Practicing yoga not only strengthened my physical health but
also improved my mental health. I became much happier and loving
and more willing to share and give to others. As a child, yoga
was always around me but as an adult it is has finally become a
part of my life.
I want to share the knowledge of yoga that my teachers have
taught me. From my teachers, I have learned how to stay happy,
peaceful, and to be giving and of service to others. I would
like to share what I have gained through yoga with people so
that each individual can attain peace and happiness in their own
lives. I have taken a wide variety of trainings. I was certified
as a Jivamukti Yoga teacher, a Power Yoga
teacher, Vinyasa Yoga
and a
Yoga Trance Dance teacher.
In addition to these certifications, I attend various workshops
and teacher's trainings each year. I have studied with many
great teachers such as
Sharon Gannon
and David Life
of
Jivamukti Yoga,
Sean Corn,
Shiva Rea,
John Friend,
Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa,
Doug Keller and most of
all my beloved mother
Takako Oka.
Besides yoga
practice, I have some other interests. I love traveling and
every year I travel abroad to learn and experience new cultures.
I have traveled more than 20 countries so far. My dream is to
travel around the world and live in countries that I find
interesting. I like photography and in every journey I take, I
bring my Cannon SLR. I love to take photos of landscapes,
nature, animals and people. I also love outdoor activities! I
like hiking because I can be with nature. It is nature that
brings me peace and purifies my soul.
